The 2022 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Men’s Basketball Tournament was held from March 9th to March 13th, 2022 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. This was the Tar Heels’ second consecutive tournament championship, their fourth in the last five years, and the 18th time in ACC history that they have been crowned tournament champions.

History of the ACC Tournament
The ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament has been held annually since its inception in 1954. The tournament has seen many different schools compete for the crown, with Duke, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland being the most successful. The tournament has grown to become one of the most prestigious college basketball events in the country and has featured some of the greatest players in the history of the sport.
The 2021-2022 ACC Season
The 2021-2022 ACC season was a highly competitive one, with all fifteen teams competing for the conference title. Duke had the best overall record, finishing the regular season with a 24-3 record. North Carolina was the second-best team, finishing the season with a 22-5 record. Virginia and Florida State rounded out the top four, with records of 21-6 and 20-7 respectively.

With under a minute remaining and the score tied at 68-68, Virginia’s Kyle Guy hit a three-pointer to give the Cavaliers the lead. North Carolina responded with a three-pointer of their own, but it was not enough as Virginia held on for a 71-68 victory, crowning them the 2022 ACC Tournament champions.
