McBroom was born on August 8, 1987, in Redwood City, California. He began playing basketball at a young age and was a standout player at Woodside High School in Woodside, California. After graduating, McBroom attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he played two seasons of college basketball.
College Career
In 2008, McBroom transferred to Saint Mary’s College of California, where he was a key contributor for four seasons. As a senior in 2012, he was named the West Coast Conference (WCC) Player of the Year and was an honorable mention All-American. During his time at Saint Mary’s, McBroom averaged 13.3 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.2 rebounds per game.
USBL Career
After graduating from Saint Mary’s, McBroom signed with the USBL’s Anaheim Arsenal, where he played for two seasons. He averaged 12.2 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game in his two years with the team.
